Before he was "The Sultan of Swat" or "The Bambino," George Herman Ruth Jr. entered the world on February 6, 1895, in Baltimore, Maryland. His legendary baseball journey began when he was just 19 years old, signed by the Baltimore Orioles in 1914 and quickly traded to the Boston Red Sox. This incredible display of power led to the infamous trade in December 1919, sending him to the New York Yankees. It was in pinstripes that Babe Ruth truly became an icon, transforming from a stellar pitcher into the game’s premier slugger. Throughout the 1920s, Ruth dominated the sport, consistently leading the league in home runs and RBIs. His peak came in 1927, at the age of 32, when he famously smashed 60 home runs, a record that stood for decades. He led the Yankees to multiple World Series championships, solidifying his status as an unparalleled superstar. As he approached his late thirties, his production eventually began to wane, but his star power never diminished. After his final full season with the Yankees in 1934, he played a brief, final stint with the Boston Braves in 1935 at 40 years old, hitting his last three career home runs in one memorable game before officially retiring, leaving behind an indelible legacy as one of baseball's greatest.
