Canzone's First Career Grand Slam Blasts Mariners Past Astros, 10-2

Dominic Canzone launched his first career grand slam and the Seattle Mariners absolutely demolished the Houston Astros 10-2 on May 12. This wasn't even close. Canzone's blast was the centerpiece of a dominant performance that had to feel incredible for M's fans watching at T-Mobile Park.

Canzone's Moment and Arozarena's Night

Canzone's first career grand slam was the signature blow in this blowout. But he wasn't alone in carrying the offense. Randy Arozarena went 4 for 4 with a homer and three RBIs, putting on an absolute hitting clinic against Houston pitching. When you've got two guys performing like that at the same time, you're going to win games by a lot. The Mariners' bats were locked in from wire to wire.

Raleigh Snaps the Slump

If there was one other storyline worth watching this game, it was this: catcher Cal Raleigh ended a brutal 0-for-38 hitless streak with a single against the Astros on Tuesday night. That was the longest such streak he's dealt with, so finally breaking through had to be a weight off his shoulders. You could feel the momentum shift for him in the clubhouse.

Dominant Start to the Series

A 10-2 victory isn't just a win, it's a statement. The Mariners came out firing and never let Houston get comfortable. When your offense is generating 10 runs and your pitching is holding the other side to just two, you're going to win every single time. This kind of performance early in the season sets the tone for how a team can compete going forward. The question now is whether the Mariners can keep this energy rolling into their next matchup.
