Vegas Scored THREE Goals in the First Period, But the Avalanche's 'Incredible' Defense Is the Real Story

Okay, Seattle, you guys see this?! The Vegas Golden Knights absolutely demolished the Anaheim Ducks in Game 6, punching their ticket to the Western Conference Final! We're talking three goals in the very first period. Can you believe it? That's how you shut a series down, no drama, just pure, unadulterated offense. Mitch Marner? He kicked things off with a between-the-legs goal that was straight-up ridiculous. Pure magic, man, and Dorofeyev followed up with a "through the wickets" goal of his own. They just cruised to that win, and now they're set to face the Colorado Avalanche. This is the stuff playoff hockey is made of, right?

The Avalanche Defensemen Are Ready

But let's talk about the other Western team, because this is where it gets spicy. The Colorado Avalanche already took out the Wild in Game 5, with Kulak scoring the series-winning goal in overtime. And get this: the word on the street is the Avalanche defensemen were "incredible" throughout that series. That's not just a casual compliment, that's a full-on warning shot across the bow for Vegas. The Wild's penalty kill was apparently a huge factor in their loss, so you know the Avs capitalized. Remember when MacKinnon rang one off the post to tie it in that series? That's the kind of grit and determination the Avalanche are bringing. They had "belief" for that series-clinching comeback, and you just know they're riding that high. This Western Final between Vegas and Colorado? It's going to be an absolute slugfest.

Across The League: Habs Surge, Coaches Out

Elsewhere, the Montreal Canadiens also locked up their spot, beating the Sabres in Game 5. Suzuki had a huge three-point night for them, and Demidov even got his first career playoff goal on a power play. Dobes, their goalie, clearly earned the team's trust, making big saves like denying Thompson with his pad. Beyond the ice, there are big changes coming. Knoblauch got fired as the Oilers coach, with no replacement named, which definitely makes you wonder about McDavid's future there. The Sedins are now running the Canucks with Johnson named GM, too. And huge congrats to Matthew Schaefer, who was surprised with the Calder Trophy win on Good Morning America and honored his mom with a hospital partnership. Awesome stuff all around!

So, get ready, Seattle. While our Kraken aren't in the mix right now, this next round of the Western Conference Final is going to be appointment viewing. Vegas vs. Colorado, explosive offense vs. a brick wall defense. You don't want to miss a second of this. It's going to be epic!
