Timberwolves Blew Past Denver in Game 3 and Now the Nuggets Are Staring at the Brink

The Minnesota Timberwolves just put the Denver Nuggets in a hole they might not climb out of. Game 3 wasn't close. It wasn't competitive. The Nuggets never got rolling, and the Wolves took a series advantage that could end this whole thing fast.

This is brutal for Denver. After winning Game 1 at home 116-105, the Nuggets let Game 2 slip away in catastrophic fashion, blowing a 19-point lead and handing Minnesota homecourt advantage. Now they're down in this Western Conference first-round series, and Game 3 showed no signs of a comeback brewing.

Denver Never Found Their Rhythm

The Nuggets came into Game 3 knowing they had to steal one on the road and shift momentum back their way. Instead, they got run off the floor. From the opening tip, Denver looked lost, unable to establish any kind of offensive flow or defensive intensity. Minnesota played lockdown basketball and made the Nuggets pay for every mistake.

This is the problem that's been brewing since Game 2: Denver can't sustain anything. One minute they're up 19, the next they're watching their season slip away. That inconsistency finally caught up with them in Game 3, and it cost them dearly.

The Rivalry Hits Different Now

The Nuggets-Timberwolves matchup has become one of the best rivalries in the NBA this decade. But there's nothing fun about being on the losing end of it, especially when you're facing elimination sooner than you'd like. For the third time in four years, these teams are battling in the playoffs, and Minnesota just took control.

Denver has to find answers fast. If they can't figure out how to match Minnesota's intensity and consistency, this series is over. Game 4 is coming, and the Nuggets are running out of rope.
