Ty Simpson Met the Rams' McVay in Secret Before Getting Drafted at Pick 13

The Los Angeles Rams pulled off a clandestine operation before the 2026 NFL Draft, and nobody saw it coming. According to reporting, quarterback Ty Simpson from Alabama had a secret meeting with Rams head coach Sean McVay before the draft kicked off. Simpson ended up going to LA at pick 13 in the first round, and now we know the groundwork was laid long before his name got called.

How the Rams Quietly Made Their Move

This wasn't some random draft pick. The Rams kept this one under wraps, which in the age of social media and 24/7 draft coverage, is basically a miracle. McVay and the Rams organization zeroed in on Simpson and kept the entire process locked down tight. By the time draft day rolled around, Simpson was already locked in on the Rams' radar, courtesy of that secret sit-down with their head coach.

Simpson Lands in LA

When the Rams were on the clock at pick 13, Simpson was their guy. The Alabama QB heard his name called and headed to Los Angeles, where McVay's offensive system will be his proving ground. It's a strategic move that shows the Rams weren't just winging it in the first round. They did their homework, built their relationships, and executed the plan perfectly.

The draft is always full of surprises, but sometimes the real story happens in the quiet moments before the cameras roll. This one definitely qualifies. McVay gets his guy, Simpson gets his landing spot, and the rest of the league is left wondering what they missed.
