300 Career Wins For One Coach: Why Jimmy Carrasquillo Is Arlington's GOAT

Alright, fam, listen up! While we're all out here grinding for our Mariners and Sounders, there's a coaching legend doing the dang thing on the high school pitch! Jimmy Carrasquillo, the absolute GOAT for the Washington-Liberty Generals boys soccer squad, just hit his 300th career victory! Can you believe it? Three hundred wins! This dude is on another level, and he hit that massive milestone on May 19 when his Generals blanked the Marshall Statesmen 5-0 in a Liberty District tournament-semifinal match. Pure domination!

Arlington's Undisputed King of the Pitch

This isn't just some casual win, people. Carrasquillo is officially stamping his name as the most accomplished public-school soccer coach in all of Arlington. Think about that for a second: no other public school boys or girls head soccer coach in that city has ever reached this kind of milestone. It's unreal! Of those 300 epic victories, a staggering 282 have come at W-L since he took the helm way back in 1999. But wait, there's more! Before his time at Washington-Liberty, he spent one season in 1998 as the head coach at then-George Mason High School in Falls Church. What did he do? Oh, you know, just led them to a Class A state crown and racked up 18 wins. Casually, those 300 wins rank him among the top 10 boys soccer coaches in the Virginia High School League’s record book. Talk about a legacy builder!

More Than Just a Coach: A True W-L Lifer

So, what drives a guy to keep piling up wins like this? Passion, plain and simple. Carrasquillo, who's 52 years old, plans to keep coaching Washington-Liberty for the foreseeable future. He told ARLnow, "Why not? I still have the passion each season to keep coaching, and I look forward to it every season. I don’t coach travel soccer the rest of the year. That keeps me hungry to coach high-school soccer at W-L in the springtime." This isn't just a side gig for him either. He's a full-time bilingual family specialist at Washington-Liberty, and he’s all in on the school. He put it perfectly, saying, "I can’t see myself working here and not coaching soccer. I still really enjoy it, and it all ties into the school." This guy lives and breathes W-L! On top of that, he's on the football coaching staff for special teams, kicking, and punting, AND he announces boys and girls basketball varsity games during the winter season. The dude grew up playing youth soccer in Arlington, an absolute standout. He was a four-year starter and all-district player at Wakefield High School, graduating in '93, before balling out at Montgomery College. And get this: his younger brother, Eddie, is the head boys soccer coach at Wakefield! The Generals even took down Wakefield 3-1 this season for Jimmy’s 299th career win. It's a family affair! He even learned from the best, serving as an assistant for four seasons under Alberto Starace, the legendary girls coach at private Bishop O’Connell who has nearly 700 career wins. So what's next for Coach Carrasquillo and his Generals? They just dropped a 5-0 bomb in a semifinal, so you know they're locked in for whatever comes next. This dude isn't slowing down, and with that kind of passion, Washington-Liberty soccer is in legendary hands. Keep making history, coach!
