5 Goals, 3 Assists: Why Ian Luccas' Numbers Are Breaking Brazilian Deals

Alright, Emerald City! You gotta hear about this drama unfolding down in Brazil. Forget the usual buzz, because there's a serious tug-of-war going down for a young talent named Ian Luccas. This 22-year-old defensive midfielder, currently tearing it up on loan at Athletic, is making waves, and his parent club, Cruzeiro, is ready to sell. But it's not that simple, because the payment structure is a mess, and another huge club, Santos, is hovering, ready to swoop in if the deal falls apart. Talk about high-stakes football!

The Payment Hold-Up and Cruzeiro's Big Move

Cruzeiro is ready to make a permanent deal for Luccas, who's been crushing it since January with Athletic. Word on the street, according to ge, is that talks are pretty far along. The main problem? Athletic wants to pay in installments, and Cruzeiro wants their money a different way. It's slowing everything down, and honestly, can you blame Cruzeiro for trying to get the best deal for a player who’s blowing up? No official offer has even hit the table yet, but the clubs are still talking it out. It just shows you how messy these transfers can get when money's involved.

tarted talking to Athletic themselves! Their strategy is slick: if Athletic and Cruzeiro somehow manage to iron out their payment issues and make the purchase, Santos will then try to sign Luccas directly from Athletic in the next transfer window. It’s a bold move, playing the waiting game, but when you're talking about a player performing like this, every club wants a piece.

Luccas' Unstoppable Rise on the Pitch

So, why all the fuss? Ian Luccas, developed at Ferroviária and previously with Goiás before returning to Locomotiva and joining Cruzeiro in 2024, has absolutely exploded under coach Alex at Athletic. The kid has found his best form this season, racking up 21 appearances. We’re talking 5 goals scored and 3 assists! He's not just a defensive midfielder, either; he’s become a total "utility man" in the midfield, bringing incredible technical quality and versatility to the squad. His numbers are legit, and they’re what’s fueling this whole transfer saga. Cruzeiro is looking to trim their roster and make some big financial moves during the upcoming World Cup break, which makes selling Luccas a priority. Will Athletic figure out the payment? Will Santos steal him away? This isn't just a simple transfer; it's a full-blown chess match for a young talent whose performance is truly undeniable. Keep your eyes peeled, Seattle fans, because Luccas's next move could shake up the entire Brazilian football scene.
