Aaron Rodgers Is Dropping His Entire Bag on Drew Allar, and the League Better Be Ready

You guys, you will not believe what is going down in the NFL right now. Seriously. We’re talking about a future Hall of Famer, Aaron Rodgers, basically opening up his entire football brain and pouring it into a rookie quarterback, Drew Allar. This isn’t just some casual chat, this is a full-on, no-holds-barred mentorship, and if you’re a fan of high-level quarterback play, you need to be paying attention to what's brewing in Pittsburgh.

The Vikings Said No, But the Steelers Are All In

Remember back in 2025 when the Vikings reportedly shied away from snagging Aaron Rodgers? The word was his notorious "freelancing style" might actually mess with J.J. McCarthy's development. Can you even imagine? Passing on a chance for a legend to pass down his secrets because of... too much genius? That's just wild to think about. But hey, Minnesota’s loss is definitely turning out to be Pittsburgh's gain, big time.

The Steelers? They are embracing everything Rodgers brings to the table, and then some. They know what they’ve got in Rodgers, and they are leveraging every single bit of his experience to shape their rookie, Drew Allar. It’s like getting a cheat code to the game's toughest position from a guy who’s mastered it for over two decades. And Allar? He’s not letting a single second go to waste.

Allar Is Getting a Masterclass From a Legend

Allar himself spilled the beans last week, telling Jarrett Bailey of SB Nation that Rodgers is full-on invested in his growth. "With me, specifically, he’s pulled me aside during practice to talk through some drill work or things to focus on through different drills," Allar said. Can you picture that? Rodgers, one of the greatest to ever sling it, pulling you aside, one-on-one, on the practice field! That’s incredible.

It gets even better. Allar added, "In the film room, he’s just asking me questions of what I was seeing, what I was looking at and why. He’s giving me a lot of good knowledge. I’m really excited to keep learning from him." That’s not just a mentor, that’s a coach, a professor, a walking encyclopedia of quarterbacking wisdom. Allar knows this opportunity is gold, saying, "Obviously he’s one of the best to ever do it in this game. So the opportunity I have is one I’m not going to take for granted."

Think about the age gap here for a second. When Aaron Rodgers was drafted by the Packers, Drew Allar was only 13 months old! Thirteen months! Rodgers has more than two decades of experience under his belt. Allar needs to learn the Pittsburgh offense, sure, but more than that, he needs to learn the game itself, how to play the position at the highest level. And who better to teach him?

Rodgers is the clear starter for 2026, and honestly, the word is this could be his last year in the league. That means there is literally zero reason for him to hold anything back, to keep any of his "cards close to the vest." He is pouring out everything he knows. This isn't just a rookie learning, this is a legend crafting his final masterpiece in the form of his successor. Get ready, folks, because the NFL is about to see what happens when a generational talent gets a personal, all-access pass to greatness.
