Adalyne Montiel Is a Four-Time Champ and Toppenish Fans Should Be Losing Their Minds

WOAH. What a weekend down at the Tacoma Dome for Mat Classic XXXVII! If you weren't glued to the action, you missed some absolutely historic performances. Toppenish wasn't just good, they were *unreal*, with Adalyne Montiel making history and their girls' squad grabbing their fifth straight team title. You heard that right, *fifth straight*! And she wasn't alone, another Toppenish superstar, Justyce Zuniga, also locked down his fourth individual title. The energy was electric, and these high schoolers absolutely brought the fire.

Toppenish Puts on a Championship Clinic

Seriously, the Toppenish girls' team is just built different. Adalyne Montiel clinching her fourth individual title in the Tacoma Dome, leading the team to their fifth consecutive championship, it felt different because it was so overwhelmingly dominant. This isn't just a win, it's a dynasty, plain and simple. Over on the boys' side, Justyce Zuniga also sealed his fourth individual title with a wrestling career built on a fast pace that few could match. Toppenish boys finished second in 2A, which is still a massive achievement after such a performance from Zuniga. The way these kids compete, their focus, their drive, it's just inspiring to watch from the stands.

Other Champs Light Up the Dome

But it wasn't just Toppenish making noise! Wapato's boys squad showed up ready to defend their 1A team title, relying on their depth to reign inside the circles once again. Zillah boys were right there as runner-up, flexing with three individual winners themselves. Talk about some serious talent in 1A! Then you had Granger's boys, who claimed a pair of individual titles and narrowly snagged the 2B team championship. And not to be outdone, the Granger girls also had a trio of winners, including Gabrielle Berger repeating her title, Sonia Mendoza finally getting the title she'd been chasing for four years, and freshman Vanessa Torres starting her bid for the rarest of prizes. They powered their way to a runner-up finish in 1A/2B. Every single match was a battle, and these athletes left everything they had out there. What a weekend for Washington wrestling! From the historic streaks to the individual triumphs, Mat Classic XXXVII was packed with incredible moments. These kids aren't just winning matches, they're building legacies and showing what true grit looks like. We'll be keeping an eye on these rising stars because who knows, we might be seeing some future Olympians from the Emerald City's backyard!
