Anthony Edwards Returns and Timberwolves Steal Game 1 From Spurs in Western Conference Semifinals

Anthony Edwards is back, and the Timberwolves just sent a message to the entire Western Conference. Minnesota rolled into San Antonio and grabbed Game 1 of their semifinal matchup with a road victory, with Edwards sparking the offense after returning from injury. The Spurs are now staring down a 1-0 deficit as the series shifts, and confidence is flowing through the Timberwolves' locker room heading into Game 2.

Edwards Delivers When It Matters Most

Edwards put up 18 points in Game 1, proving he's ready for the moment despite missing time with injury. For a Timberwolves team looking to make a deep run, having your star healthy and producing in the playoffs is exactly what you need. This wasn't just about the scoring either, it was about the energy he brought back to Minneapolis' lineup. Game 1 is always about momentum, and Minnesota seized it.

Wembanyama's Historic Defense Wasn't Enough

Victor Wembanyama put on a defensive clinic, setting an NBA playoff record with 12 blocks in Game 1. That's elite shot-blocking on another level. But even with that kind of dominant individual performance, San Antonio couldn't get the win at home. That tells you something about how complete Minnesota's game was. The Spurs have to find answers fast if they're going to claw back into this series.

What's Next

Game 2 is coming, and the Spurs are fighting for their season just one game in. San Antonio can't afford to fall into a deeper hole against a Timberwolves team that's clearly clicking. Minnesota heads into the next matchup confident, with Edwards healthy and the road win already in hand. The pressure is squarely on the Spurs now.
