Ava McLeod's Undefeated Season and Seattle Fans Have NO Idea What's Coming

Man, you guys, you absolutely HAVE to see this. We're talking about a level of dominance that's just wild, and if you haven't been paying attention, you are missing out BIG TIME. While we're all dialed in for the next big game, there's a vote happening for some truly incredible athletes, and one of them just wrapped up an absolutely PERFECT season. We're talking championship gold, and it's time to show some serious love and get those votes in. This is what sports is all about, right?

The Undefeated Juggernaut Who Struck Gold

Seriously, Ava McLeod, a junior, is out here making history. She led her AMSA Eagles softball squad to the Division 4 state championship, sealing the deal on an *undefeated season*. You heard that right. Not a single loss on the record. This isn't some walk in the park; she wasn't just riding the coattails either. McLeod hit a clutch two-run homer in the championship game and, get this, also struck out five batters. That's a full-on, two-way masterclass! We saw her swinging against Lunenburg back in April, already showing everyone what was coming. That kind of clutch performance, that kind of leadership, that's the stuff legends are made of. Undefeated? That's just unreal, pure magic on the field.

Who Else Is Crushing It and Needs Your Vote?

But hey, McLeod isn't the only one putting in work. The ballot for the final Daily News Girls Athlete of the Week is absolutely STACKED with incredible post-season performances. We've got Emily Atwood, a freshman from Hopedale softball, who threw down a ridiculous 19 strikeouts across two Final Four games. She fanned 11 in a state semifinal win against Georgetown, then punched out another eight batters in their championship game loss to Maynard. Imagine being a freshman and having that kind of electric arm! Then there's Emmanuella Edozien, a graduate from Natick track & field, who nearly snagged first place at the New England Championships in the 100 hurdles, finishing second by a heartbreaking .03 seconds. She didn't just show up, though; she repeated as the 100-meter hurdle champion at the Meet of Champions earlier in June. Her teammate Chloe Elder, another recent Natick grad, absolutely crushed the 400 meters at the New England Championships with an insane time of 54.08 seconds, after winning the same event the week before at the Meet of Champions. What a dynamic duo from Natick! And don't sleep on Bella Walkiewicz, the Hopkinton junior, who soared to fourth place in the high jump, clearing 5 feet, 5 inches at the New England Championships. Incredible stuff! Plus, Sarah Ewing, the Dover-Sherborn sophomore, absolutely dominated her No. 2 singles tennis match in straight sets during the Division 3 state championships against Martha's Vineyard. These athletes are putting on a clinic!

It All Comes Down to This Weekend

Remember Delaney Vaillette from Hopedale softball? She won last week’s honor with a massive 9,413 votes. So, you know the competition is fierce, and every vote counts! This isn't just about individual glory, it's about recognizing the sheer will, dedication, and raw talent these athletes are bringing to every single game. The poll is open until Sunday, June 21, at 6 p.m. So get your votes in, rep these incredible performances, and let's make sure our collective voices are heard for these standout athletes! This is what being a fan is all about, showing up and celebrating greatness. Let's go!
