Cayden Daughtry, EYBL's Top Scorer, Is Visiting Iowa and College Basketball Noticed
Alright, college hoops fans, get ready because something big is brewing out in Iowa City. The Hawkeyes are about to roll out the red carpet for one of the absolute top targets in the 2027 class, and believe me, this kid is a game-changer. Five-star point guard Cayden Daughtry is locked in for an official visit to Iowa on September 12. You wanna know what's even crazier? That's the same day as the annual Iowa Corn Cy-Hawk Series football game against Iowa State at Kinnick Stadium. Talk about making a statement!
Who Is Cayden Daughtry and Why Should You Care?
So, who is this phenom making waves? Daughtry is a 6-foot, 160-pound point guard hailing from Calvary Christian Academy in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. And when we say "five-star prospect," we're not messing around. This dude is legit across the board. The 247Sports composite rankings have him pegged as the No. 16 player nationally, the No. 4 point guard, and the No. 4 player in Florida. ESPN agrees, putting him at No. 12 nationally, also as the No. 4 point guard, and even dubbing him the top player in Florida. Rivals chimes in too, rating him as the No. 22 player nationally, the No. 7 point guard, and the No. 4 player in the Sunshine State. Whichever way you slice it, Daughtry is an elite talent.

What This Visit Means for the Hawkeyes' Future
Iowa has been on Daughtry's radar for a while now. They first extended an offer on July 12, 2025, and they've been considered one of the leading contenders for his commitment ever since. They're up against some serious competition, though, with powerhouse programs like Michigan, Miami, and Florida State also in the mix. And let's not forget the laundry list of other top-tier schools that have offered him, including BYU, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisville, Ohio State, Penn State, Rutgers, UConn, and Villanova. Everyone wants a piece of this guy!
But here's why Iowa is so dialed in: Daughtry isn't just a high-ranking recruit, he's a certified playmaker on the court right now. He's currently leading the EYBL in scoring, dropping an insane 23.7 points per game for the Florida Rebels. And get this, he's also second in the EYBL in assists. This isn't just a scorer, folks, this is a true floor general. Plus, he's one of only 18 finalists for USA Basketball's U17 National Team. Yeah, he's that good. This visit is HUGE for the Hawkeyes. Getting him on campus for a massive rivalry game, letting him feel that energy, that could be the secret sauce. You know they're gonna be pulling out all the stops to make an impression. Keep your eyes peeled, because Daughtry's decision could absolutely shape the future of Iowa basketball!
