Cowboys and Giants Kick Off 2026 on Sunday Night Football, and the NFL Schedule Just Got Real

The New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys are opening Week 1 of the 2026 season in primetime on Sunday Night Football. That's the headline, and it's official. The rest of the Giants' full schedule drops Thursday, May 14 at 7:30 p.m. ET on the Giants' website, app, and social media channels.

This is the kind of matchup the NFL lives for. Two of the league's biggest names, kicking things off under the lights in Week 1. No warm-up games, no easing into things. It's go time from the jump, and the pressure is already on both squads to come out firing.

A Fresh Start Under Harbaugh

The Giants are operating under head coach John Harbaugh's regime, and this Week 1 showdown against a Cowboys team they've battled through the years is exactly the kind of statement game a new regime wants. Through the Years, the Giants and Cowboys have had plenty of moments. This one is going to matter from day one.

The Rest of the Picture Comes Thursday

While the Cowboys matchup is locked in, the rest of the Giants' 2026 schedule hits the public Thursday night. That's when the real picture of their season comes into focus. What division games are stacked? Which road trips look brutal? Which stretches give them a chance to build momentum? All of it gets answered in a few days.

For now, Giants fans know one thing: their season opens on primetime against one of the toughest teams in football. No easier way to kick things off than that.
