For fans wondering about Elias Lindholm's MVP accolades in the NHL, it's important to clarify: Elias Lindholm has not won any Hart Memorial Trophies, the league's official MVP award. While he hasn't lifted that particular piece of hardware, his career has certainly featured seasons where his performance was undeniably MVP-caliber, showcasing his immense value as one of the NHL's premier two-way centers.
Lindholm's MVP-Caliber Seasons
Lindholm’s standout campaign arguably came during the 2021-2022 season with the Calgary Flames. That year, he truly cemented his status as an elite player, registering career highs in goals (42) and points (82) in a full 82-game season. Playing on the Flames’ top line alongside Johnny Gaudreau and Matthew Tkachuk, Lindholm was the linchpin, driving play offensively while consistently shutting down opponents' top lines. His contributions were vital to the Flames winning the Pacific Division and making a deep playoff run. His stellar play didn't go unnoticed, as he finished 10th in Hart Trophy voting that season, a testament to his impact across the league.
What truly makes Lindholm special and puts him in the conversation for "most valuable" to his team is his unparalleled two-way game. He's not just a scorer; he’s a responsible defensive forward, a strong face-off man, and an integral part of both the power play and penalty kill units. His ability to excel in all situations, combined with his offensive production, makes him an incredibly rare and valuable asset. He consistently plays against the opposition’s best while still putting up significant points, demonstrating his complete understanding of the game and his tireless work ethic.
While the Hart Trophy has eluded him thus far, Elias Lindholm's impact on every team he's played for speaks volumes. He’s the type of player every coach covets, a versatile, high-motor center who elevates the performance of those around him and contributes significantly in every facet of the game, making him invaluable even without the official MVP title.
