He Won a Title After ACL Surgery: Why Alexis Bernier's Kraken Deal Is Massive for Seattle's Future!

Hold up, Emerald City! You gotta hear this because the Kraken are making moves that have me hyped for years to come! Our boys in teal just locked down a serious piece of the future, a defenseman who's already shown he's got heart and grit for days. I'm talking about Alexis Bernier, our 2024 third-round pick, who officially signed his three-year entry-level contract with an average annual value of $1.03 million on Tuesday. Get ready, Climate Pledge Arena, because this kid is going to be special!

The Blue Line Gets a Boost: What This Deal Means

This isn't just another prospect signing, folks. This is a statement. Getting a 19-year-old defenseman like Bernier on the books for three years, especially at that value, feels like a total steal. He's exactly the kind of player you build around, a young talent who can grow alongside guys like Matty Beniers and Berkly Catton. Imagine him eventually skating alongside our current D-core like Vince Dunn, Adam Larsson, and Brandon Montour. That's a blue line that can shut down anyone in the league, giving Joey Daccord all the help he needs between the pipes. This move signals that our Kraken front office isn't just thinking about next season, they're building a dynasty. We need that depth, we need that skill, and we need that winning mentality. Bernier brings all of it.

From Injury to Champion: This Kid's a Winner

Now, here's where it gets wild. Alexis Bernier's journey to this contract is the stuff of legends. Last offseason, he had ACL surgery, which obviously limited his playing time during the 2025-26 season. Think about that for a second: a serious knee injury, the kind that can derail careers. But did it stop him? ABSOLUTELY NOT. This kid came back, played 21 games for Chicoutimi in the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League, and racked up four goals and eight assists. Not only that, he HELPED THE SAGUENÉENS WIN THEIR FIRST LEAGUE TITLE IN 32 YEARS! That's not just a comeback, that's pure, unadulterated championship DNA right there! Let's not forget, before the injury, he was a QMJHL first-team All-Star with the Baie-Comeau Drakkar in 2024-25. This isn't just potential, this is proven talent and heart. So, what's next? We're all going to be watching Alexis Bernier's development like a hawk. While we look forward to the next game and seeing what Jordan Eberle, Jared McCann, and Chandler Stephenson cook up, knowing we've got talent like Bernier coming up through the ranks makes the future feel so incredibly bright. This signing is a huge step for the Kraken as they continue to build a contender in Seattle. Get ready to cheer this kid on, 12s, because Alexis Bernier is officially part of our Kraken family, and he's bringing a championship pedigree with him!
