Jalen Brunson Is Leading The Finals MVP Ladder And San Antonio Is Still Talking About It

Alright, Seattle, buckle up, because the NBA Finals are here and Game 1 between the Knicks and Spurs was a whole mood. The New York Knicks stomped all over the San Antonio Spurs, grabbing a 105-95 win in the opener! But let's be real, the biggest takeaway, the *real* headline everyone's buzzing about, is Jalen Brunson. After his absolute clinic in Game 1, this dude is already sitting pretty at the top of the NBA Finals MVP Ladder. Can you believe it? He's setting the tone right out of the gate!

Brunson's Game 1 Takeover Was Legendary

Seriously, if you missed Game 1, you missed Brunson doing Brunson things. This guy is living up to his "Captain Clutch" nickname, and Coach Fizdale isn't shy about talking up how Brunson keeps delivering when the Knicks need him most. His fourth-quarter pivot was the turning point, straight up. He took that game by the horns and wouldn't let go, ensuring the Knicks got that crucial first win. The Knicks are streaking right now, on a run for the history books, and Brunson is steering that ship. It’s no wonder he’s already leading the pack for the Finals MVP. He's got that dog in him, and it showed big time.

Wemby and the Spurs Need a Serious Gut Check

Now, on the other side of the court, the Spurs are staring down a 0-1 deficit, and they know darn well they need to be better. Victor Wembanyama himself said they "need to play our game" to even things up. Look, Wembanyama needs to show up big on both ends, not just on offense. The glass was a full-on war zone in Game 1, and it's gonna stay that way. The Knicks are likely sticking to their late offense strategy, which means the Spurs defense has to tighten up, big time. We're talking about the Finals here, you can't just hope things get better. You gotta *make* them better. Game 1 was the most-watched Finals opener since 2018, so all eyes are on San Antonio to see if they can answer. So, what's next? It's Game 2, folks! The Spurs are desperate to bounce back and tie this series up. The Knicks, meanwhile, are eyeing a massive 2-0 Finals lead. You know what that means: every possession, every rebound, every shot is going to matter. Tune in tonight at 8:30 pm ET on ABC. This is where champions are made, or unmade. Don't miss it!
