Max Fried Left Early With an Elbow Injury and the Yankees Got Shutout 7-0 by Baltimore

The Yankees got absolutely demolished by the Orioles on May 13, falling 7-0 in a game that got worse the moment Max Fried had to leave the mound. This wasn't just a loss. This was a complete collapse with serious injury concerns hanging over the whole thing.

Fried's Early Exit Changes Everything

Here's the part that should worry Yankees fans the most: Fried didn't make it past three innings. He left early with an elbow injury, and that's the kind of news that keeps you up at night when you're counting on a pitcher to carry your rotation. The Orioles' offense took advantage immediately and never let up, piling on seven runs while the Yankees' bats stayed silent all night. When your starter can't go deep into a game and your offense can't get anything going, you're looking at the kind of blowout loss that sticks with a team.

A Shutout Loss Nobody Saw Coming

The Yankees came into this game having snapped a four-game losing streak just the day before, so there was some momentum in the building. Will Warren pitched against Trevor Rogers the previous night and got the team back in the win column. But that energy evaporated fast against Baltimore. Getting shutout at home is brutal, especially when you're trying to stay competitive in May. The team as a whole came up empty, and with Fried potentially dealing with a lingering injury, the front office has real questions to answer about their pitching depth.

What's Next for New York

The Yankees still have a chance to salvage something from this Baltimore series, but it all hinges on getting healthy and finding their offense again. The Fried injury news is going to dominate the conversation until there's clarity on how serious it is. This wasn't the kind of day that builds momentum heading into the rest of the season.
