Michigan and UConn Are Running It Back in November, and College Hoops Fans Need to Mark Their Calendars

The national championship rematch is happening. Michigan and UConn agreed to do this all over again, and it's going down November 6 in Boston as the Wolverines kick off their title defense to start the 2026-27 season.

According to multiple reports, Michigan coach Dusty May and UConn coach Dan Hurley both signed off on bringing back one of the biggest games from last season. This isn't some random mid-season matchup either. This is the Huskies coming to the Wolverines' backyard early in the year, with Michigan using it as their season opener after winning it all.

Why This Matters Right Now

You don't see defending national champions turn around and immediately schedule a rematch with the team they just beat. This is a power move from both programs. Michigan gets to send a message right away that they're still the team to beat. UConn gets a chance to prove last season wasn't a fluke and that they belong on that same stage.

For college basketball fans, this is a gift. You're getting peak-level basketball in November instead of waiting until March. Both programs have the respect for each other and the confidence in their rosters to make this happen. That's rare in college hoops.

What's Next

Michigan heads to Boston ready to show the college basketball world that last season's run wasn't a one-hit wonder. UConn gets their shot at redemption against the team that just cut down the nets. Either way, November 6 is circled on the calendar now for anyone who cares about college basketball.
