Early Rounds Deliver Pure Chaos

The first wave hit us hard on May 21st, with Classes 1A, 1B, and 3A lighting up the scoreboard. Then, May 22nd brought the heat for Classes 2A, 2B, and 4A. And boy, did they deliver! We saw some crazy run totals right out of the gate.

Let's talk about some of these matchups, because they were wild. In Class 1A, Columbia took down Lynden Christian 11-6, and Chelan battled past Seattle Christian 10-7. Our Seattle Christian squad fought hard, but Chelan just edged them out. Naches Valley crushed Elma 12-5, and Klahowya barely snuck by Royal 9-8. Every run mattered!

Class 1B had some serious offensive showcases too, with Muckleshoot Tribal beating Colton 11-6 and Quilcene outscoring Naselle 10-7. Wahkiakum put up 12 to Wilbur-Creston’s 5, and Ocosta secured a tight 9-8 win over Dayton. Pure grit!

Then on May 21st, in Class 3A, the bats were absolutely on fire. Shelton and Kennewick went back and forth, with Shelton winning a ludicrous 19-14 game. Can you even imagine that score? Southridge defeated Gig Harbor 18-15 in another slugfest. Our very own Seattle Prep showed up big, beating White River 20-13! That's a statement win if I ever saw one. Enumclaw also edged out Shorewood 17-16 in a nail-biter. Just incredible.

May 22nd saw the 2A and 2B teams explode. Class 2A had some monsters, including Clarkston beating Port Angeles 14-3, and Olympic absolutely dominating WF West 15-2. Selah got a win over Ridgefield 10-7, and Cedarcrest took down Lynden 12-5. Kingston beat Deer Park 13-4, and North Kitsap barely won against Burlington-Edison 9-8. But the biggest jaw-dropper? Nathan Hale came out SWINGING, putting up a staggering 16 runs to beat Mark Morris 1! That's a statement, Emerald City!

Class 2B wasn't holding back either. Colfax beat River View 11-6, Lake Roosevelt handled Adna 14-3, and Cle Elum-Roslyn topped Pe Ell 10-7. Brewster defeated Toledo 15-2, and Rainier beat Liberty 12-5. Warden secured a 13-4 win over Napavine, and Kittitas beat Coupeville 9-8. Friday Harbor also had a massive 16-1 victory against Freeman. What a start to the playoffs!

The first round is in the books, and it’s been nothing short of spectacular. If these early games are any indication, we are in for an incredible state tournament.
