Newhook Lifted the Canadiens in OT and the Whole League Is Still Buzzing!

Yo, hockey fans, can we even breathe after what went down in Game 7? Seriously, you couldn't write a script like this! The Montreal Canadiens just punched their ticket to the conference finals, taking down the Buffalo Sabres in an absolute nail-biter, 3-2, in overtime. This wasn't just a win, it was Newhook lifting the Canadiens to victory, putting an end to Buffalo's season in the most dramatic fashion possible. If you weren't watching, you missed pure playoff chaos!

Vegas Is Stacking Up, While the Avs Are Shook

Meanwhile, over in the Western Conference, things are getting spicy, and the Golden Knights are looking absolutely locked in. We've got Hart, their No. 1 goalie, looking completely zeroed in out there, which is exactly what you need in the playoffs. And let's be real, Vegas' success under Tortorella is something NHL EDGE stats are definitely highlighting. This team is playing with a chip on its shoulder. On the other side, the Avalanche look a little out of sorts without Makar on the ice in Game 1. That's a huge hole to fill when you're facing a team like Vegas. We also gotta give a shoutout to Coghlan, who's absolutely making the most of his playoff opportunity with Vegas. That kind of depth and unexpected performance can turn a series!

Beyond the Ice: Other Big Headlines

Away from the intense playoff action, there are still some important ripples across the league. Word is out that Terry is set for hip surgery, and that's a tough break, meaning he could miss the start of next season. You hate to see injuries, especially to key players. Speaking of key players, Tuch is apparently hoping to remain with the Sabres even after their heartbreaking Game 7 loss, which shows some serious loyalty despite the outcome. Over in Buffalo, Ruff just inked a new two-year contract to stick around as coach. Looks like the Sabres are betting on continuity there. Oh, and for those who follow the women's game, the Victoire just claimed the 2026 PWHL Walter Cup! Big congrats to them! What a wild time in hockey, right? With the Canadiens surging and Vegas looking like a machine, these conference finals are set to be absolutely electric. Get ready, because the intensity is only going to ramp up from here!
