Our Storm Are 3-5, And Toronto's Nyara Sabally Yelled It To The Whole WNBA

Man, what a gut punch that was last night. The Storm just dropped one to the Washington Mystics, 78-64, and honestly, it just feels like we're spinning our wheels right now. Our squad is sitting at 3-5 overall, 0-1 in the Western Conference, and that's a one-game losing streak that we absolutely cannot let grow. Now, guess who we gotta face next? The Toronto Tempo, who just had Nyara Sabally absolutely GO OFF for 29 points. This isn't just another game, Emerald City. This is a test.

The Western Conference Slide

That loss to Washington wasn't pretty, and it leaves us in a tough spot early in the season. We're chilling at 7th in the Western Conference standings, a full 2.5 games back from the top. Last season, we were a respectable 23-21, and even better on the road with a 13-9 record. We were dropping 82.1 points per game back then, with 39.0 in the paint, 17.6 off turnovers, and 12.9 on fast breaks. Where's that offense, you know? It feels like we're missing that spark. Plus, we're not exactly at full strength, with Dominique Malonga day to day with a concussion and Ezi Magbegor out with a foot injury. Every single body matters right now.

Tempo's Roaring Start and Sabally's Statement

Now, let's talk about tomorrow's problem: the Toronto Tempo. They're sitting at 4-4, just barely above us in the standings, and they're coming off a HUGE 111-104 win against the Chicago Sky. And get this: Nyara Sabally, that's who. She was a force, dropping 29 points on Chicago. That kind of performance is what you see when a player is feeling it, and we gotta face her while she's hot. This isn't just any regular season game for Toronto either, it was only their ninth game in franchise history, so they're playing with serious energy. The Tempo aren't without their own injury woes, with Temi Fagbenle out with a shoulder injury, Isabelle Harrison out with a hand injury, and Julie Allemand day to day with a hip issue. But Sabally is clearly making a statement, and we've already seen what Toronto can do. Remember May 13th? They beat us 86-73 in their house. This is our chance for a little payback, but more importantly, to stop this slide.

What's Next for Our Storm

We gotta hit the court tomorrow, May 30th, at 10:00 AM PT in Toronto, ready for a fight. Toronto already leads the season series 1-0, so this second matchup is critical to avoid going down 0-2 before we even get a chance to host them in August. This isn't just about getting a win, it's about showing some grit, finding that scoring touch we know we have, and proving we can compete in this Western Conference. Let's see if our Storm can rally and get back on track. We need this one, bad.
