The Colorado Rockies Dropped 23 Runs In One Game, And Baseball Isn't Ready For That Mayhem

Okay, so we all know what we're here for: Mariners, Seahawks, Kraken, Sounders. We live and breathe green and blue! But listen up, because while we're out here grinding, the rest of the sports world is absolutely losing its mind right now, and one MLB score just blew the doors off everything. I'm talking about the Colorado Rockies, who absolutely went nuclear against the A's, putting up a franchise-record **23 runs** in a single game! Twenty-three! Are you kidding me? That's not a baseball game, that's a video game with the sliders turned all the way up. What even happened in Vegas that night? Unbelievable stuff.

Baseball's Wild Numbers (and Other Teams)

Seriously, 23 runs is just insane. You see teams struggling to string together hits, and then Colorado comes along and drops an entire football score on someone. It's a reminder that baseball, even when it feels like a grind, can still pull out these absolutely bonkers moments. Across the league, we're seeing some wild stuff in the standings too. The Angels are at 29-43, the Diamondbacks are 36-35, the Mets are at 32-39, and the Reds are 33-37. Then you've got powerhouses like the Rays at 41-27 and the Dodgers leading the pack at 45-27. It's a long season, but some teams are clearly figuring it out early. This just shows you, sometimes you gotta light up the scoreboard to get noticed.

NHL Crowns a Champion and a 37-Year-Old Legend

And if you thought baseball was the only place for shocks, you clearly missed the NHL postseason. The Carolina Hurricanes just took home the Stanley Cup, shutting out their opponents in the final game! How wild is that, a rookie goalie closing out the biggest series in hockey with a goose egg on the scoreboard? But the real story that grabbed everyone's attention? Jordan Staal, at 37 years old and in his 20th NHL season, snagged the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP. This dude scored six goals in six games during the final stretch. Overall, in 19 playoff games, Staal put up 8 goals, 4 assists, and a +6 rating. Talk about an old-school grinder showing these youngsters how it's done. That's a legend right there, defying Father Time and hoisting the Cup. You love to see a veteran make that kind of impact.
