The *Other* Wembanyama Just Dropped A Bombshell On Next Year's NBA Draft

Alright, fam, you thought you knew about the Wembanyama family, right? You've seen Victor dominating, but get ready, because while the elder Wembanyama was making noise in the NBA Finals, his younger brother, Oscar Wembanyama, just blew up Eurocamp! This kid is only 19 years old, and he made such a strong impression over the weekend that NBA scouts are absolutely buzzing. We’re talking about a player who’s made dramatic improvements in just the last 12-18 months. If you’re not paying attention to what’s brewing internationally, you’re missing out, big time.

Oscar Wembanyama Is Not Just A Famous Last Name Anymore

No joke, Oscar Wembanyama is showing everyone he’s a serious prospect in his own right, not just Victor's brother. Currently playing for SIG Strasbourg in France's Betclic Elite, this 19-year-old forward transitioned from handball way back in 2021, and he’s been on a rapid ascent ever since. At Eurocamp, he wasn't just good, he put on a show with impressive perimeter shot-making, transition fluidity, and super efficient play. This isn't just potential, folks, this is skill being developed at an insane rate. He’s making a real case to be a high-upside pick in next year's draft, and honestly, who saw this coming so fast? Get ready for the draft chatter to start real early on this guy.

Euro Ballers Making Moves, Eyeing the League

But wait, there's more from the international basketball scene that's got the rumor mill churning! Remember former NBA guard Saben Lee? Looks like he's close to locking down a two-year contract with Lithuania’s Zalgiris Kaunas. Lee was with Olympiacos, then Anadolu Efes last season, where he put up solid numbers in 16 EuroLeague games, averaging 11.2 points, 3.1 assists, and 1.7 rebounds. He’s played 134 NBA games, with Phoenix being his most recent stop in 2023/24. It just shows you the talent still cooking outside the NBA. And then there's Mario Hezonja, the MVP of Spain’s Liga Endesa regular season. He was absolutely balling out, averaging 17.5 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.9 assists over 31 games. Hezonja is firmly committed to Real Madrid, with his contract running until 2029, but get this, it totally includes an NBA opt-out clause. You know what that means: NBA teams are watching him like a hawk. Plus, we've got Sylvain Francisco, an undrafted point guard from Zalgiris. He averaged 16.5 points and 6.5 assists this season, even making the All-EuroLeague First Team. His main goal? You guessed it, the NBA. "Things can change, but that is the place I want to go," he said. Even coaches are moving around, with former Wizards assistant Ryan Richman now leading Alvark Tokyo in Japan's B.League Premier, after previously guiding SeaHorses Mikawa to three-straight playoff appearances. So, what’s the takeaway here, folks? The global basketball stage is absolutely stacked with talent, from rising stars like Oscar Wembanyama who could reshape draft boards, to established Euro legends like Hezonja keeping NBA GMs on their toes, and even veterans like Saben Lee finding new homes and dominating. The future of the league isn’t just being forged stateside, it’s happening everywhere. Keep your notifications on, because the next big name could be emerging from anywhere, and we are here for every single second of it!
