Toronto Tempo's Point Guard Wants Time and Space Before Seattle Storm Rolls Into Town

The Toronto Tempo are feeling the pressure. With the Seattle Storm bearing down on them, Tempo's floor general is doing something that rarely works in the WNBA: asking for a little breathing room.

Sykes has been talking chemistry with Allemand lately, and he's made a bold statement about what could shift momentum for his squad. He says home fans can be a "cheat code" for Tempo, which tells you everything you need to know about where this team's confidence is right now. When you're leaning that hard on crowd noise, you know you're looking for any edge you can find.

The Storm Are Coming, and Toronto Knows It

Here's the thing: Seattle doesn't just visit arenas and lose games. The Storm are one of the elite forces in this league, and Tempo is acutely aware of what's at stake when they roll into town. This isn't a measuring stick moment anymore. This is a test that could define Tempo's entire early season.

The desperation in Sykes' plea for time and space tells you that Toronto understands the gap. They need their home crowd to show up, they need Allemand clicking in rhythm with their point guard, and they need to execute when it matters most. The margins in this league are razor thin, and Tempo can't afford to give Seattle anything free.

What Tempo Has to Do

If Toronto wants to hang with the Storm, they can't be playing loose and hoping for the best. This requires precision, control, and the kind of flow that only comes when a point guard has the time and space to run the offense exactly how it needs to run. That's what Sykes is really saying: give us room to operate, and we'll make you pay.

The next time these two teams meet, we'll see if Tempo can back up the talk.
