Victor Wembanyama Threw An Elbow, Got Ejected, and Now the Spurs Are In Real Trouble

Game 4 just went sideways for San Antonio, and it's all because their franchise player lost his cool. Victor Wembanyama was hit with a flagrant 2 foul on Sunday and ejected from the game, and the Timberwolves took full advantage. Minnesota pulled even at 2-2 in the Western Conference semifinals series, turning Game 4 into a disaster for the Spurs.

The elbow that changed everything came when Wembanyama caught Naz Reid in the face. That's the kind of play that doesn't just get you thrown out of a game. It's the kind of play that gets you in serious trouble with the league.

What's Next For Wembanyama and San Antonio

Here's where it gets ugly. The Spurs star center is now facing the possibility of a suspension that could knock him out of Game 5 entirely. A flagrant 2 during the playoffs isn't just a one-game problem. The NBA is going to take a hard look at what happened, and depending on what they decide, Wembanyama could be sitting on the sideline when the series shifts back to Minnesota.

Losing your best player in the middle of a playoff series is a nightmare scenario. The Spurs were banking on Wembanyama to carry them through. Instead, they're down a star and facing an even series heading into Game 5.

The Series Tightens Up

The Timberwolves came into Game 4 desperate, and they got exactly what they needed. With Wembanyama sidelined, Minnesota had the opening they were looking for. Now the series is locked at 2-2, and everything is reset.

The Spurs could still wrap this up with a win on Sunday night in Minnesota, which would let them close out the series on Tuesday and punch their ticket to the Western Conference finals. But that's only if Wembanyama is available to play, and that's no longer guaranteed.
