Andrew Body Turned Down FBS Offers For Alabama State, And Nobody in the SWAC Is Ready For It

Alright, you 12s, even if you bleed Seahawk blue and green, you gotta hear about this college QB making waves. The Emerald City might be focused on Lumen Field and T-Mobile Park right now, but down south, Andrew Body, the Alabama State signal-caller, just snagged the Alabama Sports Writers Association's Small College Athlete of the Year award on Sunday, June 14. That's a huge deal, but what he did after all those honors? That's the real shocker, the one that tells you everything about his commitment to turning it up in 2026. This dude had options, serious options, and he chose to run it back!

Body's 2025 Season Was Absolutely Electric

Look, Body isn't just some guy. His 2025 season was legendary for Alabama State, truly a game-changer. He was the absolute catalyst, the engine behind their first 10-win season in *twenty-one years*. Think about that kind of impact! The awards piled up faster than rain on a Seattle Monday: SWAC Offensive Player of the Year, then it went national with Stats Perform HBCU National Player of the Year, and BOXTOROW National Offensive Player of the Year. He was on a tear, straight up dominating.

And get this, his season was cut short by a shoulder injury, and he still put up insane numbers. He threw for 1,770 yards and fired 20 passing touchdowns. He led the entire SWAC in touchdown passes and points responsible for, racking up a massive 144 points. Plus, he finished second in pass completion percentage, hitting an incredible 70.6%. Imagine what he could have done fully healthy! He told the Montgomery Advertiser, "It's a blessing. Just looking back over the long days, long nights, it all paid off." You can feel that grind, right? That dedication? It clearly paid off big time.

Why His 2026 Return Is a Game-Changer

Now, here's where it gets wild. After all that success and those awards, Andrew Body was in the transfer portal back in December. Every college football fan knows what that means: bigger schools, bigger stages, bigger lights. He had FBS offers on the table. Think about that for a second. An opportunity to jump to the highest level, to leave behind the small college grind. But what did he do? He said "nah." He turned down those FBS offers. He chose to stay.

This dude made the conscious decision to run it back in 2026 with Alabama State and Coach Eddie Robinson Jr. That's loyalty. That's belief. That's the kind of gritty commitment you love to see in any athlete. It tells you everything about his drive and his trust in that program. For Alabama State, getting their undisputed star QB back, the guy who just led them to their best season in two decades and defied expectations, is an absolute win. The rest of the SWAC? They gotta be looking at this like, "Oh snap, he's back, and he's hungry."

What Body's Commitment Means for 2026

So, as we look ahead to the 2026 season, the stakes are crystal clear for Andrew Body and Alabama State. He's got the talent, the accolades, and now, the unwavering commitment to his team. After a season cut short by injury, and making a statement by turning down bigger opportunities, you know he's going to come back with a fire in his belly. His return sets the stage for an incredible run. Every snap is going to matter, every game an opportunity to prove that his decision to "turn it up" in 2026 was the smartest move he could have made. Get ready, college football, Andrew Body is coming.
