PWHL Postpones Game 5 Between Minnesota and Montreal Over Illness Outbreak

The PWHL just pulled the plug on Game 5 of the Minnesota-Montreal series due to illness concerns, and now we're sitting here waiting to see what comes next. This is the kind of move you don't see every day, and it's a reminder that even in May, when everything should be rolling, you can get thrown a curveball that has nothing to do with hockey.

When Games Get Postponed, Everything Gets Complicated

The league made the call to postpone Game 5, and that decision ripples through the entire playoff structure. These series are designed to move fast, to keep momentum building, to get teams locked in. When you have to pump the brakes because of health issues, it throws off the rhythm for everyone involved. Minnesota and Montreal were locked in a battle, and now both teams have to deal with the uncertainty of not knowing exactly when they'll play again.

The Bigger Picture

Illness concerns in professional sports are serious business. Whether it's one player or multiple players dealing with something, it's the kind of thing that can't be ignored or rushed through. The PWHL made the responsible call here, prioritizing the health of the players over the speed of the series. That's the right move, even if it creates headaches for scheduling and planning.

For Minnesota and Montreal fans, this is frustrating. You want your team playing, you want the series moving, you want answers. But this is also the reality of professional sports in 2026. Things happen, schedules get messy, and sometimes you have to wait.

What's Next

The league will have to figure out when Game 5 actually happens. Both teams need to get healthy, and both teams need to be at full strength if this series is going to be decided the right way. Until we get that next game date, it's just a waiting game. Stay tuned.
