Sounders Icons Join The Legends, And The Portland Rivalry Is About To Get Even HOTTER

Alright, fam, listen up! You know we bleed Rave Green here in the Emerald City, and today, Sounders FC just dropped some news that’s gonna send shivers down your spine in the best possible way. We’re talking about history, legacy, and pure Sounders greatness! Kasey Keller, Sigi Schmid, and Jimmy Gabriel, three absolute titans of Seattle soccer, have officially been elected to the Eternal Sounders Circle of Legends!

Seriously, this is huge. These guys smashed through the club’s 75 percent voting threshold, proving just how much they mean to us. Keller, a legend between the posts; Schmid, the coaching genius; and Gabriel, a true builder of this club’s foundation. Their names are etched into Sounders lore forever, and honestly, it’s about damn time! Get ready, because the induction ceremony is set for July 16, and you know where that’s happening, right? Our rivalry match against Portland! Can you even imagine the energy at Lumen Field that night? Goosebumps already!

The Immortals Take Their Rightful Place

This isn't just about a ceremony; it's about acknowledging the shoulders we stand on. Kasey Keller, our fearless goalkeeper, defined an era. Sigi Schmid, as a coach, he built teams that made us proud year after year, laying down the blueprint for success. And Jimmy Gabriel, a true pioneer, helped shape the club from the ground up, making sure our foundation was rock solid. These aren't just names; they are the heart and soul of what it means to be a Sounder. Celebrating them against our biggest rivals? That's just perfect, a testament to everything they fought for.

But the legacy isn't just in the past, right? Our boys are still out there making waves! How about Cristian Roldan earning his return to soccer’s biggest stage with a USMNT World Cup call-up? That’s our guy! And speaking of Roldan, he’s one of only two Sounders ever to play 400 matches for the club. Talk about dedication! You can even snag a Cristian Bobble Ticket Bundle for the August 19 match against Austin. That’s a must-have for any true fan.

The Emerald City Rises For Soccer

Beyond the pitch, Seattle is gearing up for a summer like no other. FIFA World Cup 2026 watch parties are hitting the waterfront at Pier 62, right in the heart of downtown Seattle! We’re talking a floating mini-pitch, music, incredible food, and culture from across the city. The "Seattle Soccer Celebration Powered by Lenovo" is gonna be the place to be. You can even grab a World Cup Bundle, pairing a FIFA World Cup match with a Sounders FC match for an exclusive experience. Our city is stepping up, showing the world what the Emerald City is all about when it comes to the beautiful game!

And let's not forget the action we've seen recently! Just a few weeks back, Osaze De Rosario tallied a game-winner with one minute to spare. You love to see it! And remember when Jesús Ferreira dribbled the entire field before tallying Seattle’s second goal of the night? That’s the kind of magic we live for, proving that every game brings new drama and unforgettable moments. This team keeps us on the edge of our seats, always!

What's Next for Our Rave Green Crew?

So, what’s on the horizon for our Sounders? Mark your calendars! We’ve got that epic July 16 induction ceremony during the Portland rivalry match. Then, don't miss the August 19 clash against Austin for Roldan’s bobblehead, and heads up, there's a kickoff time change for our August 16 match vs. Vancouver Whitecaps FC. This season is shaping up to be one for the history books, celebrating our past while watching our current stars shine. Let’s keep that Rave Green energy loud and proud, Seattle!
