Washington High School Athletes Score Big With WIAA's 2026 Smart Choices Scholarships

The WIAA just dropped the names of this year's Smart Choices scholarship winners, and it's a solid reminder that some of Washington's best athletes are still in high school. The organization announced the recipients on April 23, 2026, recognizing standout student-athletes across the state who are balancing academics, athletics, and making smart choices off the field.

What the Smart Choices Scholarship Means

The Smart Choices program is one of the WIAA's flagship initiatives, rewarding kids who aren't just dominating on the field or court but also showing maturity and character in how they carry themselves. These scholarships recognize that being a great athlete is only part of the picture. Staying out of trouble, hitting the books, and being a positive force in your community? That's what separates the winners from everyone else.

Big Recognition for Washington High School Sports

This announcement comes at a time when Washington high school athletics are buzzing. From baseball diamonds in Kelso to softball fields across the Emerald City, top-tier talent is on display every single week. The Smart Choices program shines a light on the athletes who understand that their choices matter, both on the scoreboard and beyond.

Looking Ahead

For Washington high school sports fans, this is a great time of year. The spring season is in full swing, teams are grinding through their schedules, and the next generation of college and pro talent is making a name for itself. Keep an eye on these scholarship winners as they continue their journeys through the rest of the season.
