Wemby's First Career Ejection Changes Everything in Game 4 Against the Timberwolves

Victor Wembanayama is in the record books for all the wrong reasons. The Spurs star took his first career ejection in Game 4 after an elbow that caught T-Wolves defender Reid, and suddenly San Antonio is looking at a series that just got a whole lot messier.

The Moment Everything Shifted

You don't get thrown out of an NBA playoff game by accident. Wemby's hit on Reid wasn't some incidental contact in the paint either. It was the kind of play that makes referees reach for the red card without hesitation. For a guy who has played at an elite level without this kind of trouble, it's a stunning development at exactly the wrong time. The Spurs were fighting to stay alive in Round 2, and losing their best player to ejection is the kind of gut punch that can swing momentum in a heartbeat.

What This Means for San Antonio Moving Forward

This isn't just about one game. When your franchise centerpiece picks up a first career ejection in the playoffs, it sends a message about intensity, frustration, and how tight things have gotten. Wemby is the kind of generational talent who usually stays above this stuff. The fact that he got there tells you the Spurs are feeling the pressure, and the Timberwolves know exactly how to get under their skin.

San Antonio still has basketball to play, but losing your best player for any stretch in the postseason is a luxury no team can afford. The question now isn't whether Wemby can bounce back. It's whether the Spurs can win without him when it matters most.
