West Seattle Unified Soccer Captured Back-to-Back State Titles, And The Rest Of Washington Needs To Pay Attention
Alright, West Seattle, you guys out there crushing it! Corey Sorenson, the athletic director at West Seattle High School, sent over a roundup from what can only be described as an absolutely MONSTER weekend for our athletes and a proud alum. Seriously, you gotta hear this, because the Emerald City just saw some serious wins go down!
Back-to-Back Champs and Record Breakers
Let's kick things off with Saturday, because it was pure fire! Our West Seattle Special Olympics Unified Soccer C1 Team didn't just win a State Championship, they grabbed their second consecutive title! That's a dynasty, folks. And the West Seattle Unified Soccer C2 Team wasn't far behind, earning a State Runner-Up finish. Two teams, two podium finishes, one incredible program! As if that wasn't enough, our boys' 4x400-meter relay team, Aidan Murray, Will Frederick, Marcus Ramsey, and Zach O'Keefe, powered their way to 4th at the WIAA 3A State Track and Field Championships with a scorching 3:21.60. They absolutely SHATTERED the previous school record of 3:23.21. History being made right before our eyes!

Sunday was all about the community and future stars, too. The West Seattle Booster Club hosted their "Paddle Battle" pickleball tournament. Over 110 participants showed up, with around 40 students across 16 student-only teams. Big shoutout to the Booster Club, they raised a cool $5k for our student-athletes and programs at WSHS! That's how you support local talent, right? And get this: West Seattle alumnus Miles Gosztola was out there on the mound for the University of Oregon baseball team. He helped lead them to their Regional Championship, pitching six full innings with eight strikeouts, three walks, 5 hits, and just one earned run. He led Oregon to a huge 4-1 win over Oregon State!
Seriously, what a weekend for West Seattle! From state championships to broken records and alums doing big things in college, the vibe here is electric. Miles Gosztola and Oregon are now headed to the Super Regional against the University of Texas later this week. You know we'll be watching and cheering him on. This isn't just about high school sports, it's about the heart and hustle of our entire West Seattle community, and it's something truly special. Let's keep that energy going, folks!
