Passion runs deep in Washington state prep sports, and the 1B tournament is always a testament to the grit and determination of these young women.

The Contenders, The Favorites, The Dreamers

Leading the pack into the single-elimination bracket is the formidable Liberty Christian High School from the Tri-Cities, boasting an impressive 8-0 league record and an 18-2 overall mark. Their consistency and dominance throughout the season have rightfully earned them the top seed. But they are not alone at the summit. Hot on their heels is the undefeated Colton High School squad, who bring a perfect 9-0 league record and a dazzling 15-1 overall standing to the state tournament. Colton's program is synonymous with excellence, and they are always a force to be reckoned with.

Another powerful contender is Almira-Coulee-Hartline High School, entering with a flawless 6-0 league record and a strong 12-5 overall tally. The Lynx program has a history of producing exceptional talent, including last year's SBLive WaFd Bank 2B/1B Senior Girl Athlete of the Year, Beth Okamoto. Her legacy of hard work and success undoubtedly continues to inspire the current squad, fueling their drive for a state title. Keep an eye on Sunnyside Christian High School as well, who hold a solid 12-5 overall record and are eager to make a deep run.

First Round Gauntlet: Every Game Matters

The beauty of a single-elimination format is its unforgiving nature, making every pitch, every out, and every run crucial. The opening round, scheduled for Wednesday, promises instant drama. Defending champions and determined challengers alike will face off in high-stakes matchups. Fans will undoubtedly be treated to thrilling contests as teams battle for survival.

Key first-round matchups include Colton High School clashing with Muckleshoot Tribal High School, a game where Colton's veteran presence will be tested by Muckleshoot Tribal's fighting spirit. On another diamond, Naselle High School will lock horns with Quilcene High School, a contest that could swing either way based on pitching and timely hitting. Additionally, Wilbur-Creston High School takes on Wahkiakum High School, while Dayton High School faces Ocosta High School. These opening battles will set the tone for the entire tournament, with no team wanting to see their championship dreams end prematurely.
