Wisconsin Tight End Lance Mason Signs With Seahawks as Undrafted Free Agent

The Seattle Seahawks just added another piece to their offense. Wisconsin tight end Lance Mason inked a deal with the team as an undrafted free agent, according to Aaron Wilson, landing an NFL shot after one year in Madison that's already turning heads.

One Year, All-Conference Recognition

Here's what makes this move interesting: Mason earned second-team All-Big Ten honors from the league's coaches in 2025. That's not bad for a guy who spent just one season with the Badgers. He made an impact fast enough to get NFL evaluators' attention even though he went unselected in the draft. In Wisconsin's offense, tight ends have always been treated as pro-ready talent, built on physicality, blocking ability, and route work over the middle. Mason fit that profile right away, turning a short stint in the program into a resume line that actually translates to an NFL camp setting.

What's Next in Seattle

Now comes the hard part. Mason enters a crowded offseason competition where undrafted signees have to earn their stripes through special teams work and smart practice reps. Wisconsin fans will be watching to see if Mason can push through rookie minicamp and training camp as the Badgers' latest tight end trying to stick on an NFL roster.

The Seahawks continue to build out their receiving options under head coach Mike Macdonald and offensive coordinator Brian Fleury. Mason's got a shot to make noise when camp opens up. Stay tuned.
