The Top 25 Seattle Mariners Of All Time
The Seattle Mariners have had some great players come through the organization throughout the years. Hall of fame players to local legends, here are the top 25 Seattle Mariners of all time.
25. Raul Ibanez
Ibanez played for the Mariners 3 different times. And was pretty good in all three of them. He had three straight seasons of 100+ RBIs from 2006-2008.
24. Joey Cora
Joey Cora was a fan favorite and a pillar of consistency for the Mariners at 2nd base. And that’s why he makes the list. In the 1997 season he even hit .300 for the Mariners with 40 doubles.
23. Harold Reynolds
Another second baseman that was a staple of the Seattle mariners. He played 1,155 games for the Mariners and made back to back all star games. On top of that he earned three gold gloves with the Mariners.
22. Erik Hanson
A forgotten era of Mariners baseball was the late 80s and early 90s. But Hanson was not one to be forgotten. He threw 21 complete games for the Mariners in 5 seasons.
21. Hisashi Iwakuma
Iwakuma might have even had a better career if he didn’t come to the United States so late in his career. But he was a reliable pitcher for the Mariners and a fan favorite. In 2013 he finished third in Cy Young award voting and made the All-Star team with a 2.66 ERA across 219.2 innings.
20. John Olerud
John Olerud was one of the best pure hitters in baseball before he came to the Mariners. And during his time with the Mariners he was just as consistent. He earned an All-Star game appearance and won three gold gloves with the team.
19. Cal Raleigh
Cal Raleigh has been one of the best catchers in baseball during his time here in Seattle. He’s been one of the main reasons why the Mariners have been able to finally get past their playoff drought and he had the hit that sent the Mariners to the postseason for the first time since 2001.
18. Julio Rodriguez
Julio Rodriguez, if he remains consistent and healthy, will find himself easily inside the top 10 in a few years. He is one of the game's brightest young stars and has made a name for himself in Seattle in his young but so far stellar career.
17. Nelson Cruz
Nelson Cruz crushed baseballs for the Mariners. In 606 games for the Ms he hit .284 with 163 home runs and 414 RBIs. In his four seasons with the Mariners he made the All-Star game three times and won two Silver Slugger awards.
16. Mike Cameron
Mike Camerson had one of the hardest jobs in the history of the Mariners, and that was replacing Ken Griffey Jr. And of course no one can ACTUALLY replace Junior but Cameron did a great job of filling in some of that void. During his time in Seattle he made an All-Star team and won two gold gloves.
15. Freddy Garcia
Freddy Garcia was another player who replaced a legend. This time the legend was Randy Johnson. Garcia was a very up and down player and maybe never reached his potential. As a 22 year old rookie in 1999 he pitched 200 innings.
14. Bret Boone
13. Kyle Seager
Kyler Seager might get some controversy here for not being higher but here me out. Sure he played with the organization a long time but he made one All-Star game and batted .251 in his career. A solid career but not enough to earn a top 10 spot.
12. Mark Langston
Mark Langston was the first great Mariners pitcher. He led the AL in strikeouts 3 times and made an All-Star game with the franchise.
11. Alvin Davis
The first good Mariners batter. He won rookie of the year with the Mariners; which ended up being his best season. But he was the first notable name in Mariners history.
10. Adrian Beltre
Adrian Beltre had a very solid time in Seattle. Now of course he had better seasons before and after leaving the not so friendly hitting confines of Safeco Field (now T-Mobile). But he did win 2 of his first 5 gold gloves as a member of the Ms.
9. Jay Buhner
Jay Buhner helped bring the best times of Mariners baseball to the city and became a Mariners and Seattle legend. Between 1995-1997 he hit 124 home runs and drove in 368 RBIs. He is still third all time in Mariners history in Home Runs and RBIs.
8. Robinson Cano
Cano was probably the biggest signing in Seattle Mariners history. He had 4 really good seasons before getting suspended for steroids. However, he did bat .296 in his time with the Mariners with 271 extra base hits.
7. Jamie Moyer
Moyer pitched for 5 other teams before coming to Seattle. But Moyer spent 11 seasons with the Mariners winning 145 games. He made his first and only All-Star game of his career at 40 years old in 2003 with the Ms.
6. Alex Rodriguez
Alex Rodriguez is one of the most controversial players in baseball history. And we all know why. But in almost 800 games with the Mariners he batted .309 with 189 home runs and made 4 all-star games. He also won a batting title.
5. Randy Johnson
Randy Johnson spent 10 seasons with the Mariners where he won 130 games and had 3.42 ERA while recording 2,162 Ks in just over 1,800 innings. He won a Cy Young award with the Mariners as well. Can’t deny his excellence in a Mariners uniform.
4. Felix Hernandez
Felix was the lone bright spot in a bad Mariners time. He won a Cy Young award with the Mariners and won the ERA title two times. He also went to the All-Star game 6 times with the Ms.
3. Edgar Martinez
Edgar Martinez is the best designated hitter of all time. And that enough should be easy to see why he is so high up on this list. He won two batting titles and hit 300+ home runs with the Mariners. He’s the Mariners all time leader in RBIs, doubles, and runs.
2. Ichiro Suzuki
Ichiro won an MVP award and rookie of the year award in the same season, his first with the Mariners. He holds the single season record for most hits in a season. He won two batting titles and 10 gold gloves with the Mariners. Ichiro was absolutely a batting machine.
1. Ken Griffey Jr.
Ken Griffey Jr is the Seattle Mariners. He saved baseball in Seattle. He won an MVP award. He also added 10 All-Star games and 10 Gold Gloves with Seattle. He captured the imagination of the city. Ken Griffey Jr is the greatest Seattle Mariner of all time.
