Alabama Won't Give Up On Holloway: Scholarship Waiting Despite Suspension

Aden Holloway's basketball future at Alabama isn't over yet, even though he's currently suspended. Coach Nate Oats confirmed Wednesday that the Crimson Tide is holding a scholarship for the guard while his legal situation plays out.

The Details of Holloway's Suspension

Holloway was arrested on felony drug charges and banned from campus just before the NCAA tournament began. His arraignment is set for June 16. According to his attorney, Jason Neff, Holloway has already waived his initial court date, and Neff is preparing to file paperwork related to the case.

Oats Keeping the Door Open

By publicly stating that Alabama is holding Holloway's scholarship, Oats is signaling that the program believes this situation can be resolved. It's a significant show of faith in a player facing serious legal trouble at one of the worst possible times in the college basketball calendar. The decision tells you something about how the coaching staff views both Holloway's character and his potential value to the program moving forward.

The next update will likely come after June 16, when the legal process moves forward. Until then, Holloway remains in limbo, and Alabama remains committed to giving him a path back.
