Astros Walk Off in 10th as Mariners Fall Short in Houston

The Seattle Mariners came up just short against the Houston Astros on May 13, dropping a 4-3 decision in the 10th inning at Minute Maid Park. It was a gut-punch way to end the game: Zach Cole delivered the walk-off RBI single that sent the Astros home winners, leaving the M's with nothing but what-ifs after a competitive battle.

A Tight Contest Through Nine

The Mariners kept pace with Houston through regulation, staying in a close game that felt like it could go either way. Both teams left some opportunities on the table, but neither could break through decisively enough to put the other away before the ninth inning closed. It was exactly the kind of tight matchup you see in May when teams are still finding their rhythm and every at-bat matters.

Tenth Inning Heartbreak

The Astros struck first in extra innings. Cole's clutch RBI single in the 10th was the difference maker, and it sent the Mariners packing with a loss that stings a little extra because it came so late in the game. Houston's ability to push across the go-ahead run when it mattered most is the kind of execution that wins close ballgames.

Next Up for Seattle

The Mariners will look to bounce back and even the series as they continue their road trip. After a loss like this, where the team had their chances, the focus shifts immediately to the next matchup. Baseball is a long season, and one walk-off loss doesn't define where this team is headed, but a bounce-back win would go a long way toward steadying the ship after this tough one in Houston.
