Boldy and Eriksson Ek Torch the Stars: Wild Dominate Game 1 on the Road

The Minnesota Wild just showed Dallas exactly what playoff hockey looks like. Minnesota rolled into Game 1 of their Western Conference first round matchup and absolutely cruised past the Stars, with Matt Boldy and Joel Eriksson Ek leading the charge. This is the kind of statement win you want when you're heading into enemy territory for a playoff series, and the Wild made it crystal clear they came to play.

Eriksson Ek's Two-Goal Night Sets the Tone

Joel Eriksson Ek had himself a game. The guy potted two goals and was a massive part of why Minnesota looked so sharp. When you get that kind of production from a depth scorer in playoff hockey, especially on the road, you're in great shape. Boldy chipped in his own goal as well, and suddenly you're looking at a team that's firing on all cylinders right when it matters most.

Wallstedt Shines in His Playoff Debut

Here's what really caught everyone's attention though: goalie Wallstedt, who was apparently "nervous" heading into his playoff debut, absolutely delivered when it counted. The kid showed up and showed out in Game 1, keeping the Stars off the board when they needed stops the most. That's the kind of performance that builds confidence heading into Game 2.

The Wild scored six goals total in the game and now have the upper hand in the series. Dallas is going to have to figure out how to respond, because right now Minnesota looks like the team ready to make a real run. Game 1 went the way it should have for the visitors, and they're heading home with momentum on their side.
