Brandon Ingram Out for Game 6 and the Raptors Are Already Sweating It

The Toronto Raptors are heading into Game 6 of their first round matchup against Cleveland without All-Star forward Brandon Ingram, who is sidelined with heel inflammation. With the Cavaliers leading the series 3-2, losing Ingram is a gut punch the Raptors really cannot afford right now.

The Timing Could Not Be Worse

Game 6 is must-win territory. Cleveland has already taken a 3-2 series lead, which means Toronto is backed against the wall. Ingram is an All-Star caliber player, and his absence is going to force the Raptors to get creative on the offensive end. Every bucket matters when you are fighting for your playoff life, and the loss of a player of his magnitude makes that fight significantly harder.

What Toronto Has to Do Now

The Raptors need to dig deep and find ways to generate points without their All-Star forward carrying the load. Role players are going to have to step up in a big way. The bench needs to produce. The starting lineup needs to execute at a high level. It is a tall order, but it is the only path forward if Toronto wants to force a Game 7.

The heel inflammation is the kind of injury that can linger, too, so even if the Raptors somehow pull off the win in Game 6, Ingram's status for any potential Game 7 remains uncertain. For now, Toronto has to prepare for life without him and figure out how to extend their season in Cleveland.
