Antonio Hamilton Re-Signs With Commanders on 1-Year Deal

The Washington Commanders made a move on Monday to shore up their cornerback room, bringing back Antonio Hamilton on a one-year contract. It's the kind of move that doesn't make headlines across the league, but it matters for a team that needs depth and continuity in the secondary heading into the 2026 season.

Bringing Back Familiar Faces

Hamilton's return is part of the Commanders' ongoing roster construction as they prepare for the new season. The team has been active in recent days, announcing jersey numbers for their free agent class and signing their 2026 draft class. Adding Hamilton to the mix gives the secondary a veteran presence who has already played within the system.

Building the Secondary

As the Commanders continue to piece together their roster, moves like Hamilton's one-year deal reflect the team's approach to filling out their depth chart. The club is in the middle of rookie minicamp, getting a look at new talent while also maintaining continuity with players who know the scheme and expectations.

With training camp still ahead and the regular season beyond that, every roster decision matters. Hamilton's return is one piece of a larger puzzle as Washington works to get competitive heading into the new campaign.

What's Next

The Commanders will continue their roster moves in the coming weeks as they prepare for the season. Rookie minicamp is underway, and the team's coaching staff, led by the organization's leadership, will have plenty of decisions to make before the opening kickoff arrives.
