Brian Snitker Gets His Hall of Fame Moment, and Even His Family Couldn't Miss It

Brian Snitker walked up to that podium at Truist Park one last time, but this time he wasn't wearing a uniform. He was in a suit, and the moment was all his. The former Braves manager became the 42nd member of the Atlanta Braves Hall of Fame on Friday night, and honestly, the emotion was real.

His family packed the front two rows. His son Troy, the Mets hitting coach, even caught a last-minute flight to be there. That's the kind of thing that doesn't happen every day. The Mets had been postponed Saturday due to rain, so Troy made the trip down to Atlanta to watch his dad get honored before the Braves took on the Philadelphia Phillies.

A Career That Earned This Moment

Standing at the podium with all those legendary Braves guys around him, Snitker didn't need to say much. "It's humbling, and just it's a great feeling," he said. "Honestly feels really good to be in the presence of all (the inductees), those legendary Braves guys."

That's the way a guy who spent his life in the game talks about the biggest honor of his career. Not bragging. Not making it about himself. Just grateful to be in the room with the history of the franchise.

A Night to Remember

This was Snitker's Hall of Fame moment, and it came on a night when baseball around the league was heating up. The Red Sox were exploding offensively. The Dodgers were honoring their own history. And down in Atlanta, one of the winningest managers in Braves history was getting his flowers.

That's the way this game works sometimes. You put in the time, you build something real, and eventually, the organization makes sure you know what you meant to them.
