Bryson Tiller Bolts to Missouri After Breakout Freshman Year at Kansas
The Kansas basketball program just took another hit to its frontcourt. After Flory Bidunga decided to transfer to Louisville, now 6-foot-11 forward Bryson Tiller is heading to bitter rival Missouri. This is the second major departure from the Jayhawks' big men rotation, and it stings coming off a promising freshman campaign for Tiller.
A Freshman Season Worth Watching
Tiller arrived in Lawrence before spring semester 2025 and redshirted that year before getting real minutes last season. Once he saw the floor, he made an immediate impact, becoming a regular in the starting lineup. He averaged 7.9 points and 6.1 rebounds, solid production for a true freshman still learning the college game. His best moment in a Kansas uniform came against Missouri itself, ironically enough. Tiller dropped 13 points, pulled down five rebounds, and swatted five blocks in an 80-60 Jayhawks victory at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri. That kind of defensive presence is exactly what Kansas loses when he walks.

Dennis Gates and Missouri wasted no time capitalizing on Tiller's availability. Tiller visited the Tigers on Sunday and committed shortly after, choosing them over interest from Michigan, Georgia Tech, NC State, Arizona, and others. The Tigers are making serious noise in the transfer portal this offseason, having already landed Tennessee forward Jaylen Carey and Providence forward Jamier Jones. Adding a big man like Tiller who showed flashes last season gives Gates even more firepower heading into next year.
Tiller had other options on the table too. He visited Miami but canceled a planned trip to Arizona before ultimately deciding Missouri was the right fit. For Kansas, losing two front court pieces in the same offseason is a rough blow that the coaching staff will have to address quickly in the portal.
