Chet Holmgren Just Dropped 24 and 12 on the Lakers and Thunder Aren't Done Yet

The Oklahoma City Thunder walked into their home arena and showed the Los Angeles Lakers exactly why they belong in the second round. Chet Holmgren absolutely dominated, racking up 24 points and 12 rebounds to lead OKC to a 108-90 victory in Game 1 of their playoff series.

This wasn't some close, tension-filled battle either. The Thunder came out and proved they were the better team on the night, pulling away from a Lakers team that did fight but couldn't find the offensive punch needed to keep pace. An 18-point margin is the kind of statement you make when you're trying to set a tone for a series.

Holmgren's All-Around Game Changes Everything

When Holmgren gets that kind of night, pulling double-doubles with ease, it puts serious pressure on whatever team he's facing. The Thunder have the kind of depth and performance that makes teams nervous going forward. One game doesn't make a series, but it does send a message about who's got the edge right now.

What's Next for LA

The Lakers had their moment to make a statement at home, and they came up short. That 18-point loss is the kind of thing that stings, especially in the playoffs where every possession feels magnified. They'll need to adjust quick and find a way to contain what Holmgren brings, or this series could get away from them fast.
