Clemens Goes Nuclear, Twins Dismantle Mariners 11-4 in Minneapolis

The Seattle Mariners ran into a buzzsaw Monday night in Minnesota, and Kody Clemens was the one swinging it. The Twins' infielder went absolutely off, finishing 2-for-5 with a home run and five RBIs as Minneapolis cruised past Seattle 11-4 at home. That's the kind of performance that'll haunt you in the box score for days.

Clemens Carries the Load

Five RBIs from one guy is the kind of damage that's tough to come back from. Clemens wasn't the only Twin making noise either. Byron Buxton launched a two-run homer, and Trevor Larnach went 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI. When your lineup is firing on all cylinders like that, it's hard for any team to keep pace. The Mariners just couldn't match what Minnesota was throwing at them on Monday night.

Rough Night in the Cities

This is exactly the kind of game you don't want to see early in the season. The Mariners are still working through their roster and trying to build chemistry, and nights like this where you get outgunned 11-4 don't help the cause. Back at T-Mobile Park, the team will need to shake this one off fast and refocus on what they can control moving forward.

The Mariners head back home looking to bounce back and find their rhythm. This one stings, but there's plenty of baseball left to play.
