Cody Bellinger Goes Off For 4 Hits and the Yankees Bury the Orioles

The New York Yankees got exactly what they needed from one of their biggest bats on May 2nd. Cody Bellinger went absolutely nuclear at the plate with four hits, leading the Yankees to a victory over the Baltimore Orioles. When your star is locked in like that, good things happen. That's baseball.

Bellinger Puts the Team on His Back

Four hits is the kind of performance that doesn't come around every single day. Bellinger was dialed in from first pitch to last, and it showed in the box score. This wasn't some fluky game where everything fell his way either, it was a legitimate display of bat control and timing. In May, when teams are still finding their rhythm, performances like this from your key offensive contributors can set the tone for what the rest of your season looks like.

Yankees Pull Away Late

The Orioles couldn't keep pace. Once Bellinger got rolling, the Yankees' offense fed off that energy and took control of the game. That's the cascading effect of one player having a monster game, it lifts everyone else around you. The momentum shifts completely when you've got someone putting up that kind of offensive output.

It's still early in the season, but performances like Bellinger's are exactly what the Yankees need to stay competitive and keep things rolling. Next time these teams meet, Baltimore will be looking to bounce back and get even, but for now, New York's got the bragging rights and the win that matters on the stat sheet.
