Colorado Just One Win Away From Sweeping LA Out of the Playoffs

The Avalanche are one victory away from ending the Kings' season. After taking Game 3 on Thursday night, Colorado sits on the doorstep of a first round sweep, and Los Angeles is running out of time to mount a comeback.

Avalanche Staying Sharp in LA

Colorado's offense keeps finding different ways to score. Lehkonen got things started with a shorthanded goal after a steal and a shot threaded through a defender. Makar added to the lead by cutting through traffic from the point, giving the Avalanche a cushion heading into the third period. When LA clawed back with Moore deflecting Byfield's dish in front, Colorado had an answer ready.

This is playoff hockey at its toughest. The Avalanche aren't just winning games, they're winning in hostile territory and doing it with contributions up and down the lineup. That's the kind of depth that wins Stanley Cups.

Kings Searching for an Answer

Los Angeles managed to find the back of the net in Game 3, but it clearly wasn't enough. The Kings are desperate to find a spark with their backs against the wall heading into the next game. One more loss ends their season. The pressure is mounting, and Colorado shows no signs of slowing down.

When you're facing elimination in the first round, you need everyone firing on all cylinders. Right now, the Kings aren't matching Colorado's intensity, and it's showing on the scoreboard.

What's Next

Colorado can finish this thing whenever they take the ice next. A Kings team trying to survive isn't the same as a Kings team fighting for something bigger, and the Avalanche are capitalizing on that desperation. This sweep is within reach, and the Avalanche know it.
