Colts Trade Back 6 Spots With Steelers, Land Extra Fourth Round Pick in Day 2 Shuffle

Indianapolis made a calculated move on Day 2 of the 2026 NFL Draft, trading back six spots in the second round with the Pittsburgh Steelers. In return, the Colts picked up an extra fourth round selection, giving them more ammunition to work with as they continue building their roster.

The Trade Details

The Colts started Day 2 with the 47th overall pick in the second round before sliding back to the 53rd spot courtesy of Pittsburgh. That trade netted them a compensatory fourth round pick from the Steelers, expanding their draft capital heading into the later rounds. For a team trying to add depth across the board, that kind of flexibility matters.

What's Left on the Board

Indianapolis still has six more picks on the clock after this move. Following their second round selection, they'll have their original third round pick at 78 overall, then four more selections sprinkled throughout rounds four through seven, including that compensatory fourth rounder from Pittsburgh. The strategy appears to be about maximizing opportunities rather than reaching for premium talent early.

Day 2 of the draft is all about finding value, and the Colts are positioning themselves to do exactly that. Whether it's addressing immediate needs or stockpiling depth, Indianapolis now has the picks to stay aggressive on the board.
