Dante Fowler Is Coming to Seattle and the Seahawks Defense Just Got Serious
The Seahawks are signing veteran edge rusher Dante Fowler Jr., and this is exactly the kind of move that tells you Mike Macdonald is building something with real teeth on defense. Fowler brings proven pass rush experience to a Seattle team that's been reshaping its roster this offseason, and pairing him with what's already on the defensive line gives you a much different look heading into the season.
Adding Veteran Edge Rush to the Mix
This signing matters because the Seahawks are leaning into defense under Macdonald. Fowler has been around the league long enough to know how to get to the quarterback, and in a division that's going to demand production up front, that's not a luxury. Seattle's been through significant turnover on the roster this year, but adding a vet who knows what he's doing on the edge gives the defense some stability and experience alongside the younger pieces the team has brought in.

The Seahawks have been active this offseason reshaping their roster, and Fowler fits into that plan. Mike Macdonald's system requires guys who can rush the passer effectively, and bringing in a veteran presence helps that unit gel faster. With Sam Darnold under center and weapons like Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Rashid Shaheed, and Cooper Kupp on the offensive side, the Seahawks are clearly trying to build a balanced roster. The defense needs to hold up its end of the bargain, and Fowler's addition is a statement about what Macdonald expects from his pass rush.
This is a move that shows the organization is serious about competing right now. Whether it's through the draft or veteran signings like this one, Seattle's putting the pieces together. Fowler gets his next chance in the Emerald City, and Hawks fans should be paying attention to how quickly he impacts what's happening at Lumen Field.
