Falcons Reunite Two Brothers in Secondary, Drafting CB Avieon Terrell in Round 2

Atlanta made a calculated move on Day 2 of the 2026 NFL Draft, selecting cornerback Avieon Terrell with the 48th overall pick in Round 2. The pick slots Terrell into the secondary alongside his brother, creating a rare family connection on the defensive side of the ball.

Building the Secondary Through the Draft

The Falcons' defensive focus continued throughout Day 2. After landing Terrell in Round 2, Atlanta doubled down on the back half of the defense, signaling that secondary depth and talent were priorities heading into the new season. The decision to unite the two brothers on one roster speaks to how Atlanta values both Terrell's ability and the potential chemistry of having family on the same unit.

Atlanta's Day 2 Haul

Terrell wasn't the only piece the Falcons addressed early. In Round 3, with the 79th overall pick, Atlanta selected wide receiver Zachariah Branch, continuing to build offensive weapons. The team also picked up a defensive prospect in Round 4 with a pick acquired from the Eagles, and later snagged a compensatory selection in Round 6 from Philadelphia as well. By Round 7, the Falcons held one more selection at pick 231.

It's a draft class built on versatility and filling gaps across both sides of the ball. Whether the secondary becomes a strength early in the season or the new receiving targets make immediate impacts, Atlanta is betting this haul helps them compete when games count.
