Four-Goal USMNT Dominance Has Alexi Lalas Calling It Their 'Greatest Half' Ever!

WHOA. If you missed the USMNT’s opener against Paraguay at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, you absolutely blew it, man! Our American boys didn't just win, they *dominated* in a historic 4-1 performance that had everyone talking. This wasn't some slow build, this was a statement, and former USMNT legend Alexi Lalas is already declaring their first half the "greatest half" the team has ever played in group play. That's not just hype, that's pure, unadulterated passion from a guy who knows the game. You gotta love to see it!

USA's Stunner Against Paraguay

From the jump, the USMNT came out swinging like a heavyweight champion at Lumen Field, even if they were halfway across the world. The first half was a masterclass. Paraguay's Damián Bobadilla gifted the US an early lead with an own goal, and then Folarin Balogun took over, netting two goals in the first half alone! Seriously, two goals! The dude was unstoppable. He just unleashed pure fire, extending the lead and setting the tone. Then, just to put a cherry on top, Gio Reyna sealed the win in extra time, pushing the final score to a crushing 4-1. That’s how you start a tournament, folks. That's how you show the world you're here to play. We know what a dominant performance looks like in the Emerald City, and this was it.

High Praise and Big Moments

The experts are buzzing too. Lalas didn't mince words, calling that first half their "greatest half" in group play history. It's that kind of electric performance that makes you stand up and cheer. Even Jameis Winston, who was apparently there bringing the Ws, was hyped for the USA's performance! Flo Balogun earned Man of the Match honors from Lalas, which is absolutely deserved after putting up a brace in the opener. And while Christian Pulisic had to sub out at halftime, he says he'll be fine. Phew! We need him on the pitch. Even international superstars like Zlatan Ibrahimović are excited about the World Cup, specifically "magic player" Lamine Yamal, but the real magic so far has been our USMNT. So, what’s next for the boys after a start like that? This kind of momentum is huge, setting a high bar for the rest of the tournament. The team looks sharp, hungry, and ready to prove themselves. We’ve seen what they can do, and now the whole world is watching to see if they can keep this dominant form going. Bring on the next challenge! This is what it's all about, baby.
