Gage Goncalves Just Ended It in Overtime and Tampa Bay Is Still Alive

The Tampa Bay Lightning are heading home with their season on life support after Gage Goncalves buried the overtime winner on Friday night. The Lightning stole a 1-0 victory on the road against the Montreal Canadiens, forcing a Game 7 and keeping their playoff hopes breathing just a little bit longer.

One Goal, Everything on the Line

This is playoff hockey at its most brutal. One shot. One goal. The entire series shifts. Goncalves delivered that gut punch in overtime, a 1-0 result that doesn't sound dramatic until you realize it means Montreal couldn't finish the job at home. They had the chance to close it out on their own ice, and now they're heading back down to Tampa Bay for a winner-take-all Game 7.

That's the kind of momentum swing that can haunt a team. The Canadiens had control. They had the home-ice advantage. And now they've got to go on the road for everything.

Game 7 Awaits

Both teams now know exactly what's coming: one game, one winner, one team packing it in for the offseason. The Lightning showed they're not ready to go quietly, even after everything that's been thrown at them this series. Goncalves made sure of that with his overtime heroics.

For Montreal, this is a heartbreaker. You get a chance to close it at home and you don't. That's the difference between moving on and playing one more game you don't want to play. Game 7 is coming, and now it belongs to Tampa Bay's house.
